A great colour lasts as long as you look after it. The difference between a colour that fades in 3 weeks and one that stays vibrant for months often isn't the quality of the salon — it's how you care for it at home. Below is the guide we give every client after her visit.
The First 48 Hours — The Critical Window
Avoid washing your hair for the first 48-72 hours after colouring. The colour needs time to "seal" inside the hair cuticle. Also avoid extreme temperatures (sauna, very hot water) and direct sun.
The Right Washing Routine
Always use a shampoo and conditioner made for coloured hair (colour-safe, sulfate-free). The sulfates in conventional shampoos "wash" the pigment out of the hair much faster. The water should be lukewarm to cool — never hot. Wash your hair 2-3 times a week rather than every day.
Colour-Protecting Treatments at Home
A weekly mask for coloured hair makes a huge difference. Pay particular attention to the ends — they are the most dehydrated areas and the first to fade. A leave-in conditioner or hair oil after washing creates a protective film.
Styling and Heat Protection
Heat (hairdryer, straightener, curling iron) is colour's biggest enemy. Always use a heat protection product before any heat styling. If you can, let your hair dry naturally 1-2 times a week.
Sun and Sea — Take Care in Summer
UV light fades hair colour — especially lighter shades. Use hair products with UV protection in summer. Salt water and pool chlorine are also damaging: wet your hair with fresh water before you go into the sea or the pool.
When to Come Back to the Salon
Balayage: every 4-6 months for a refresh. Roots: every 4-6 weeks. Keratin: every 4-6 months. K18 / Milbon treatment: can be repeated every 6-8 weeks for extra reconstruction.
