At Ikonomakis Hair Atelier in Chalandri, Athens, babylights start from €150 with a Colorist, from €200 with a Color Expert and from €250 with a Master Color Specialist. Prices are "from" prices and all-inclusive with a consultation; the final price depends on the colourist's level, the length and density of your hair, your starting colour and whether a toner or gloss is needed, and it is always confirmed at the consultation, before any work begins.

How much do babylights cost in 2026

The price of babylights at the atelier starts from €150 and is shaped mainly by who performs the technique. We work with three levels of experience, so you can choose according to how complex the result you want is.

| Level | Babylights price | When it suits | |---|---|---| | Colorist | From €150 | Natural base, subtle light, simple maintenance | | Color Expert | From €200 | Denser babylights, a more demanding tone, coloured base | | Master Color Specialist | From €250 | Complex changes, very dark or damaged hair, a personalised light plan |

At all three levels the price is a "from" price, with a consultation. You will never hear an amount at the end that we did not discuss at the start: before we lay the first foil, you know what we will do and how much it will cost.

What affects the final price

The final price depends on four key factors, which we assess with you at the consultation.

1. The colourist's level. As the table shows, the Colorist, the Color Expert and the Master Color Specialist have different starting prices, because they correspond to different degrees of experience and complexity.

2. Length and density. Babylights are made with very fine, dense sections. Long or very thick hair needs more sections, more product and more time, so the price rises compared with medium-length or fine hair.

3. Your starting colour. On a natural, light base, lightening is more predictable. On very dark hair or hair with previous colour, the light needs more careful, sometimes gradual work. If there are old layers of dark colour, a different approach may be needed, which we will discuss before we begin.

4. Toner or gloss. Most babylights are finished with a toner, which "cleans" the tone of yellow or orange and gives the final result: honey, beige, almond or creamy vanilla. Whether one is needed, and which is right, is decided at the consultation.

For the same reasons, the final price is always confirmed at the consultation, not from a photo or a message.

What the price includes

The price of babylights at the atelier is all-inclusive with a consultation. This means we start with a conversation about the result you want, an assessment of your hair and colour history, and a plan for where the light will fall, especially around the face.

The consultation is where we decide whether babylights really are the right technique for you, or whether balayage or classic highlights would serve you better. For a detailed description of the service, see our page for babylights in Athens.

Babylights vs balayage vs highlights: prices and differences

Babylights cost the same as balayage as a starting price (from €150) and more than highlights (from €80), because they require very fine, dense sections and more detailed work.

| | Babylights | Balayage | Highlights | |---|---|---|---| | Price at the atelier | From €150 | From €150 | From €80 | | Technique | Tiny, dense sections | Freehand painting | Medium to wide sections | | Result | Diffused, natural light | Graduated, brighter lower lengths | More visible contrast | | Root line | Very soft | Almost non-existent | More visible | | Refresh | Usually every 3–4 months | Usually every 4–6 months | Usually every 2–3 months |

If you want light everywhere without looking like you have had your hair coloured, choose babylights. If you want stronger brightness at the ends and fewer appointments, choose balayage. For the detailed comparison see our guide babylights vs highlights vs balayage, and for the cost of balayage our guide to balayage prices in Athens.

Babylights on dark hair: do they cost more?

Babylights on dark hair do not have a different price list, but they often require more work. Brown and black hair, when lightened, reveals warm undertones — red, orange, yellow — that must be controlled with toner. If there is also previous dark colour, lightening becomes less predictable.

In such cases, a Color Expert or the Master Color Specialist is usually the safest choice. The result on a dark base is one of the most flattering: caramel, honey and almond shades that match the 2026 trends for rich, "expensive" brunette. More in our guide to babylights on brown hair (in Greek).

How long they last and how often they need refreshing

Babylights usually look beautiful for 3–4 months before they need refreshing. Because the sections are fine and scattered, the growing root "disappears" in the light and does not create a strong line.

What changes faster is the tone. Toner fades gradually with washing and sun, and usually needs refreshing every 6–8 weeks. For that in-between appointment, a hair gloss starts from €55 and restores a clean tone and shine without the need for new babylights.

A realistic maintenance schedule usually looks like this:

  • Babylights: usually every 3–4 months.
  • Gloss/toner in between: whenever the tone starts to warm up, usually every 6–8 weeks.
  • Home care: sulphate-free shampoo, heat protection, protection from sun and chlorine, purple shampoo in moderation.

How to get the most value from the price

The best investment in babylights is not the lowest price, but the right plan from the start. A few practical tips:

  • Bring reference photos, as well as photos of results you do not want.
  • Tell us your whole colour history, even home colour you did months ago.
  • Think about maintenance: if you want appointments further apart, balayage or a gentler babylights plan may serve you better.
  • Ask for face framing: a little more light around the face makes a big difference.

The price depends on the colourist's level, the length and density of your hair, your starting colour (natural or coloured, light or dark) and whether a toner or gloss is needed. All of this is assessed at the consultation, before work begins.

Babylights usually look beautiful for 3–4 months before they need refreshing, because the growing root disappears into the fine sections. The tone fades faster and usually needs a gloss or toner every 6–8 weeks.

Yes, babylights are one of the most flattering techniques for brown and dark hair, in shades such as caramel, honey and almond. Dark hair reveals warm undertones when lightened, so toner is important and a Color Expert or Master Color Specialist is often recommended.

To refresh the tone between appointments, a hair gloss starts from €55 and restores a clean colour and shine. It is usually needed every 6–8 weeks, while the babylights themselves are usually refreshed every 3–4 months.
